The Evolution of Mass Communication Theories in the Digital Era: A Comprehensive Literature Review
Abstract
This paper examines the transformation of mass communication theories in response to digital media environments over the past decade. Through a comprehensive literature review of 30 recent studies, this research identifies key theoretical adaptations, emerging frameworks, and shifting paradigms in mass communication scholarship. The findings reveal significant reconceptualization’s of traditional theories to accommodate interactive, networked, and algorithm-driven communication landscapes. The paper concludes with recommendations for future research directions that address current gaps in understanding the evolving relationship between communication theory and digital media practices.
